What it is

Pass the hat. Without the hat.

Whip-rounds are how groups have always raised money for each other. A wedding gift, a leaving present, a funeral fund, the office baby shower. The hat goes round. People drop in what they can. Someone holds it and pays at the end.

Hatpass is that, online. The organizer creates a hat with a target. Everyone gets a link. They contribute by bank transfer. No app, no signup, no chasing. The organizer watches the hat fill, then cashes out when it's full.

Shared link

One link, infinite contributors

Anyone with the link can contribute by bank transfer. No app install, no account, no friction. Contributors don't even know they're using a fintech.

Live progress

Watch it fill, in real time

Every contribution updates the page instantly. Organizers see momentum. Contributors see the hat fill. The thermometer is the proof.

Direct payout

Cash out, or pay direct

When the hat is full, send the money to a bank account or straight to the vendor. No middle wallet, no holding period. Money lands where it should.

How it works

Three steps, on both sides.

If you start a hat
1
Name the hat.

Pick a target, a deadline, a description. Photo optional. Takes ten seconds.

2
Share the link.

WhatsApp, SMS, email, Twitter, anywhere. Each link unfurls into a clean preview with the running total.

3
Cash it out.

When you hit the target, or whenever you want, withdraw to your bank or pay the vendor directly.

If you contribute
1
Tap the link.

A page opens in your browser. No app required.

2
Copy the account.

Bank transfer to the displayed virtual account. Use the four-letter code in your description.

3
You're done.

The hat fills, the page updates. The organizer takes it from there.

Questions

Things people ask.

Do contributors need to install Hatpass?
No. They tap the link, see a public page, transfer from their bank app. That's it. Only the organizer needs the app.
What's the smallest hat I can run?
There's no minimum. People run hats for a single ₦500 lunch split. Run what you need.
What if not everyone pays?
You can still cash out whatever's been collected. Or extend the deadline. Or send a reminder to specific people who haven't paid yet. Hatpass writes the WhatsApp message for you.
How do contributors know which hat their money went to?
Each hat has a four-letter code. Contributors include it in their bank transfer description. Hatpass routes the money to the right hat automatically.
What does Hatpass charge?
A small flat fee per cash-out. No percentage, no cuts on the contributions themselves. Full breakdown in the app.
Where does Hatpass hold the money?
In a virtual account at a licensed Nigerian bank, through our payments partner. We never touch the money directly. When you cash out, it transfers from there to your bank.
